Am I a Suitable Candidate for Hair Transplantation?

Am I a Suitable Candidate for Hair Transplantation?

This is one of the most common questions I hear during daily consultations. The truth is that the success of a hair transplant begins even before the procedure itself, by determining whether the patient is a suitable candidate for the treatment.

In general, hair transplantation is considered an effective option for individuals experiencing hereditary hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) or hair loss resulting from certain injuries or scars. However, the presence of hair loss does not always mean that transplantation is the most appropriate solution.

During the consultation, I evaluate several important factors, including the patient’s age, the degree of hair loss, the density of the donor area at the back of the scalp, and the expected future pattern of hair loss. I also review the patient’s medical history, current medications, and any factors that may influence the final outcome.

One of the most important elements for a successful procedure is the presence of a strong donor area containing an adequate number of healthy hair follicles. These follicles serve as the primary source of transplanted hair, and the better their quality, the denser and more natural the results will be.

In some cases, I may recommend medical treatment or supportive therapies before considering transplantation, particularly when hair loss is still actively progressing.

The goal of the consultation is not only to determine whether the procedure can be performed, but also to establish a long-term treatment plan that delivers the best possible outcome while preserving a natural appearance for years to come.
