The Difference Between FUE and FUT Hair Transplant Techniques
When considering a hair transplant, many patients ask an important question: What is the difference between FUE and FUT?
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is currently the most widely used hair transplant technique. Individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and then transplanted into areas affected by hair loss. One of the main advantages of FUE is that it does not leave a noticeable linear scar and generally offers a faster recovery period.
FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), on the other hand, involves removing a small strip of scalp containing hair follicles from the donor area. The follicles are then carefully separated and transplanted into the recipient areas. This technique may be suitable for certain patients who require a large number of grafts in a single session.
Choosing the most appropriate technique depends on more than just patient preference. Factors such as hair characteristics, the extent of hair loss, donor area quality, and the desired outcome all play an important role.
During the consultation, I assess each case individually to determine which technique will provide the best possible results while preserving the donor area for the long term.
