After undergoing a hair transplant procedure, most patients closely monitor changes day by day while waiting for the final outcome. It is important to understand the natural stages of hair growth following the procedure.
During the first few weeks, the transplanted follicles settle into their new locations. After that, the transplanted hair may shed during the first or second month. This is a completely normal phase known as post-transplant shedding or shock loss.
New hair growth typically begins between the third and fourth month, when the first new hairs gradually start to appear. Over time, the hair becomes thicker and denser.
Between the sixth and ninth month, the results become much more noticeable, and most patients observe significant improvement in both hair density and overall appearance.
The final result is usually achieved around 12 months after the procedure. In some cases, improvements may continue for up to 15 months, particularly in the crown area.
Following medical instructions and using recommended treatments when necessary can help maximize results and maintain them over the long term.
